Bug? Icon import crash!

Import Error movie clip

When I try to import icons, balsamiq v3 crashed .
Please, see above clip.

  • Total Icons: 724
  • 0~200 import is OK.
  • 200+ import is failed (crashed)

Hi @black

Thank you for your report. As far as I can tell it is file selector that does not manage the amount of files.

Here is a work where you can import 700 icons at once.

  • Select Assets in the navigator.
  • Open you explorer and select all 724 icons.
  • Drag and drop them onto the project. Release the mouse when you see a green plus.
  • Wait

We’ll make some investigations.

Hi black,

We shipped today 3.1.3. It has the bugfix for this issue.
You can get it here:

Here are the complete release notes:

I’m experiencing this same problem but I’m importing one image at a time.

the method suggested by Florian_Brauer doesn’t solute the problem.

I have the latest version of Balsamiq Mockup 3.1.8.

It crashes every time I try to import.

help please — I have a deadline.

thank you!

Yikes @mechanism, I’m sorry about that.

You mentioned you tried Florian’s steps, were you referring to the ones listed here: B3 crashes when adding large numbers of icons at once

Normally I would tell you to send me an email but our support desk software is down. If you wouldn’t mind sending me a direct message with more information, we can start there!

Hi, I’m having a similar issue. Whenever I drag and drop a new asset, it takes forever (10+ minutes) to finish the process. Sometimes, it doesn’t finish at all and crashes instead. It’s very frustrating.

Hi @Juan_Mejias_Gomez,

Sorry for the trouble with this.

Are you running the latest version of Mockups (3.5.3)?

If the issue persists, would you mind sharing a sample asset via We would like to try reproducing the bug here.

We’ll get to the bottom of this one!

Hi @Virgin,
I hadn’t updated my version since I first purchased the license, back in June (it was at 3.3.something). I did now and the problem seems to be gone. I’ve tried several assets and they’ve all imported fine. Problem solved, I think! Thanks for the tip.

Hi All,

I am currently facing the same issues on Balsamiq 3 right now.

I have Version: 3.5.9 - 04/26/2017 08:23 installed along with
Adobe Air Player Version: WIN 26,0,0,120

The asset I am importing is

Import works fine for a small amount of imports but anything above 100+ icons crashed the application.

Hi @spawnpoint and sorry for the snag!

Have you tried these steps by any chance?

This Abobe AIR issue should be gone in the next major version that we are preparing (native!) but in the meantime, this workaround should help you to import your files.

Hope this helps! Anything else, we’re here.

Thanks for the suggestion. That worked swimmingly.

Really appreciate the quick turnaround.
