Grid "row height" control should be a number box, not a slider

#1

This is actually something I’ve been meaning to vent about with 2.x but have just never gotten around to it.

The UI element for setting the height of the grid row height would be much better if it was a plain text box or (preferably) a numeric text box with a spinner dial. It is technically possible to set it to any value from 16 to 70, but first, it’s hard to estimate exactly where the slider needs to be since the control is so small (Fitt’s Law strikes again!), and second it tends to jump by twos so getting an odd number when it’s currently on an even number or vice versa, while possible, takes some fiddling.

I’d very much prefer to just be able to enter “15” if I want rows that are 15 px high, or “32” for 32 px high, etc.

I’d like to second this request. Both the slider control itself and the number-skipping behavior were frequent irritants in Balsamiq v2 — an upgrade for v3 would be much appreciated!

Hi @Jenni_Merrifield and @bjdewilde! Thanks for the good idea

I have changed the slider to a NumericStepper, check it out and let me know what you think: http://balsamiq.com/download/next/ - build 947 and above

Is there any way to change this feature in the web app as well? http://screencast.com/t/fbv4rObg

Hi @plaskowski,

Thanks for reaching out about this and sorry for the hassle.

While this feature is not available yet in myBalsamiq, it will be included in the next major release that we are preparing for our web version, which will be native! We don’t have any precise date for it yet, but we’re getting close to a private beta version. Stay tuned!

We’re here to help if you need anything else in the meantime.
