One Component Library Across Multiple Projects

#1

Hello,

I was wondering if there is a way to have multiple folders of wireframes and have them use only one asset library? Right now if I move wireframes into subfolder they loose connection to all their symbols. We are creating a lot of wireframes per modules and need to set up more file organization structure.

Thank you for your assistance!

Hey @nomnomboris, this is not possible directly through the product right now. We wrote an article about this issue, with an idea for a workaround here: http://support.balsamiq.com/customer/portal/articles/1634821-can-i-use-symbols-and-assets-across-projects-. Hopefully that’s helpful.

Hi @ben, sorry I missed you reply :(. The sadly link is not working. We kind of figured out our own work around by using a file syncing tool on top of it like google drive/dropbox. Not idea, but seems to be ok. We also started to have a big library of elements that is similar to a library, but they are individual files. But would love t read you article on possible workaround.

Hi @nomnomboris,

Sorry about that, we recently revamped our support site and the link changed.
Here it is: https://support.balsamiq.com/desktop/accountassets/

We know that this solution is not ideal and we are considering bringing back this feature. I’ve added for vote for it, to help us prioritize the request!

Let us know if you need anything else, we’re here to help!

No worries @Virgin ) thank you! Yea we are doing something similar with a folder that includes all of our wireframe assets as projects so designers can copy and past. Which we then sync via our dropbox like the tool. Of course, something a bit more build in would be way better. We create whole lots of wireframes
