Hi there. I’m very new to Balsamiq - and can’t see how to add images. All the online info seems not to apply i.e. I can’t drag and drop the image, there is no assset editor on the top right of the page etc. I’m on the online trial version - is that likely to be a factor? Any help gratefully received. Cheers. Peter
Hey @Peter, I’m sorry for the trouble.
It sounds like you may have been looking at the Mockups for Desktop documentation, not the documentation for myBalsamiq. I’m really sorry for the confusion there, we need to do better about differentiating between the two.
The process for adding images in myBalsamiq is easy, and I’d be happy to walk you through it!
First, you will want to add a “Image” control to your mockup. You can do that by searching for it in the Quick Add box.
Next, click on the image. The property inspector window should appear. Click on the downward facing triangle next to “Default Placeholder”
A box with all your uploaded images will appear (it will be empty if this is your first image). If you want to add a new image to it, click the plus button in the upper right
This will open up a new window that will allow you to upload an image from your computer. Click the browse button
And find the image you want to upload on your computer. Select it and click “Open”
Once it’s been uploaded, you can select it in the asset viewer, and then click “Load”
Your uploaded image is now in your mockup.
That image lives in your project’s asset library now, so you will be able to reuse it without having to upload it again. You can read more about all of that here: https://docs.balsamiq.com/mybalsamiq/assets/
The full myBalsamiq documentation is here: https://docs.balsamiq.com/mybalsamiq/
I’m sorry that drag and drop doesn’t work in myBalsamiq, Peter. Because it’s browser based, the browser grabs the image before we even get to see it.
Let me know if there is anything else we can help you with!
