Long time user of Mac desktop version and would like to know what the status is for the new ‘Balsamiq Wireframes for desktop’ version, as I see the (almost five month old) Sept 5 17 blog post seems to be the last news on it? Thought I should check one more time before totally switching over to Sketch.
Hey @Design_SeventyOne, I’m sorry we haven’t talked more about this outside of the forums, but, now that Balsamiq Cloud is humming along smoothly, we are full steam ahead on the desktop app.
We hope to have a beta in the 2nd half of the year, and I’d be more than happy to add you to that list if you’d like. I wish I had a firmer release date for you, but we are a small team, and it’s a big rewrite.
I think folks are really going to be happy with it. We saw a quick demo in our last all-hands meeting, and it’s coming along nicely. We’ll talk more about it soon.

That’s a bummer, though I understand w the small team size.
Does the Cloud version offer the same functionality as the desktop app?
Aside from working Offline, it actually offers more functionality (built-in chat and commenting as well as being faster).
I’d love for you to give it a spin and tell us what you think.
It’s not bad, though I’m not interested in another cloud subscription service. Any updates to share on the desktop app?
We just saw a demo of the Mac version today. It’s coming along nicely.
Our release plan is to have a version that reads Cloud projects, and then update that version to have stand alone support as well. Hoping to have all that ready by the end of the year.
